The Duxes Automotive Aftermarket Summit Achieved a Great Success in Shanghai

In order to address the challenges and opportunities presented by the huge automotive aftermarketindustry, Duxes hosted the Automotive Aftermarket Summit 2016 in Shanghai, on October 12-14. In total, representatives from more than 100 car manufacturers, suppliers, automotive aftermarket distributors, and other service providers, including prominent global brands such as Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Shell, Castrol, and Volkswagon, gathered to discuss the future development of the automotive aftermarket in China.

 

The opening day, the pre-conference event featured several intriguing presentations and discussions regarding the impact of digitization and technology on the automotive aftermarket. A presentation, by the Operation Specialist of the Automotive Business Division for Alibaba, on the “Internet and Ecologicalization of Retail Shops” facilitated a great deal of discussion, brought to light important trends in the automotive aftermarket, as industry players become more environmentally conscious.

 

 

Day one of the summit included in-depth presentations on detailed topics at the forefront of the automotive aftermarket. Presenters with research and corporate backgrounds from esteemed research institutions, professional associations, and companies, discussed such issues as the new legal framework for the Chinese automotive industry, the new era of customized aftermarket service, the influence of and developmental challenges related to compatible parts, as well as appropriate management methods for the industry. The day concluded with a series of panel discussions, and a presentation on the recycling and remanufacturing (“reman”) of auto components, by Duxes’ Director of Business Development and Marketing, and Head of Remanufacturing and Automotive Aftermarket Business

 

 

Day two of the event continued discussion on a range of new areas, eachessential to the successful development of the automotive aftermarket in China. The representative from the Shanghai Law Society contributed an explanation of draft, anti-monopoly legislation for the automotive industry. Further presentations and panel discussions focused on industry supply chains, including: supply chains in auto repair, the rebalancing of profits between OEMs and distributers, andnew models for supply chains in the wake of recent official proposals. The conferenceended with a forward-looking presentation about new energy vehicles and the automotive aftermarket.

 

In addition to the panel discussions and presentationson the program, Duxes hosted two special interviews, the first of which with the CEO of the China regionfor Suncor Energy, and the other with the Manager of the Automotive Oil Market Department for Castrol China. Both interviews provided insight into how the management of leading global companies involved in the automotive aftermarket approach the important issues discussed during the summit.
